Cheryl Brown Merriwether

Cheryl Brown Merriwether has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Cheryl Brown began their career in 2004 as an HR Manager at Community Coordinated Care for Children, where they worked closely with senior leadership to develop HR goals and ensure compliance with laws and regulations. Cheryl Brown then joined Florida's Blood Centers as the Director of Training and Development, responsible for identifying training needs and overseeing the delivery of training programs.

In 2008, Cheryl joined ICARE International Center for Addiction and Recovery Education as the Vice President and Executive Director. Cheryl Brown played a key role in creating the International Association of Professional Recovery Coaches and ICARE, and in 2019, they were promoted to Executive Director. Alongside this role, they also worked as an instructor at HR Jetpack, providing practical online education and teaching the SHRM Certification Exam prep course.

Cheryl's involvement in the Greater Orlando Society for Human Resource Management (GOSHRM) began in 2018, where they served in various capacities on the board, including Director of Internal Membership and Director of the SHRM Foundation. In 2021, they became the President-elect, and by 2023, they became the Immediate Past President.

Cheryl Brown is also a Certified Professional Coach (CPC) from the Fowler International Academy of Professional Coaching, achieved in 2014. Cheryl obtained their SPHR certification from the HR Certification Institute - HRCI in 2012. In 2011, they became a Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) from the FL Certification Board.
