Alpha Sesay currently serves as the Deputy Minister of Justice for the Government of Sierra Leone, a position held since August 2023. Prior to this role, Alpha Sesay worked as a Senior Democracy, Rights & Governance Advisor at USAID from February 2022 to July 2023. Alpha Sesay's extensive experience includes serving as a Senior Advocacy Officer, Advocacy Officer, Legal Officer, Head of the Hague Sub-Office, and Trial Monitor for the Charles Taylor Case at Open Society Foundations from April 2008 to February 2022. Additionally, Alpha Sesay was a Visiting Fellow at Harvard Law School's Human Rights Program in 2018-2019 and held various legal and academic positions at the Special Court for Sierra Leone and Fourah Bay College, among others. Alpha Sesay holds an LL.M in International Human Rights Law from the University of Notre Dame and an LL.B Hons. in Law from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone.
