Deborah Beams is a seasoned accounting professional with extensive experience in governmental accounting standards and auditing. Currently serving as Supervising Project Manager at the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) since November 2018, Deborah previously held the position of Accounting and Auditing Assistant Director at BKD CPAs & Advisors from November 2015 to September 2018. Deborah's earlier tenure at GASB (November 2012 - October 2015) involved working as a Practice Fellow, contributing to significant GASB Statements related to financial guarantees, fair value, and external investment pools. Deborah's foundational experience includes various roles at Grant Thornton LLP focused on not-for-profit and government sectors, as well as earlier positions at Henry & Peters, P.C. Deborah holds a combined Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Accounting from the University of North Texas.
