Michelle Stavig has extensive experience in the field of cybersecurity and technology. Michelle began their career in 2000 as an Information Security Analyst, where they led a team in performing vulnerability assessments and ensuring security compliance for DOD applications and systems. In 2004, they transitioned to a role as a Software Engineer, where they resolved software bugs and implemented patches in a UNIX environment.
In 2006, Michelle became a Cyber Attack Operator, conducting computer and network exploitation operations to analyze and mitigate risks to critical data. Michelle also played a crucial role in the technical and career development of civilian and military personnel. From 2010 to 2013, they served as a Red Team Operator, providing cyber training and instruction to personnel within the Air Force, Joint, and coalition forces.
Michelle's leadership skills were recognized in their roles as an Offensive Security Senior Program Manager from 2013 to 2016 and as a Cyber Security Manager from 2016 to 2019. In these positions, they oversaw the management and execution of various cyber defense operations, including mobilizing forces and responding to network incidents on a global scale. Michelle also played a key role in hiring and recruitment efforts for highly skilled personnel.
After leaving the United States Air Force in 2019, Michelle joined SAIC as a Threat Analyst/Solutions Architect. In this role, they were responsible for analyzing threats and developing solutions to enhance cybersecurity.
Most recently, Michelle is currently serving as the Vice President of Growth & Technology at GovCIO, a position they have held since 2022. Alongside this role, they also served as a Cyber Operations Program Manager, utilizing their offensive cyber expertise to lead multiple teams in achieving defensive cyber capabilities and training objectives.
Michelle Stavig completed their Master's Degree coursework in Network Security at Eastern Michigan University from 2011 to 2014. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer and Information Sciences, General from the University of Maryland Global Campus from 2000 to 2004. Michelle also acquired an Associate of Science (AS) degree in Cyber Security from the Community College of the Air Force from 2010 to 2011.
Before pursuing higher education, Michelle obtained an Associate of Science (AS) degree in Computer Science Technology from the Community College of the Air Force in 1999 and another AS degree in Electronics Systems Technology from the same institution in 1998.
Additionally, Michelle holds several additional certifications. These include CompTIA Linux+ (obtained in June 2010), CompTIA Security+ (obtained in March 2008), and CompTIA Network+ (obtained in September 2007).
