Josh Allen

VP, Human Resources at Governors State University

Josh Allen has been working in the field of IT security for over six years. Josh started their career as a Lead System Administrator & Information Assurance Manager for the Defense Information Systems Agency. In this role, they were responsible for maintaining the daily operations of the agency's IT systems and ensuring that they met all security standards. Josh also developed training and mentoring programs for employees.

In August 2015, Josh transitioned to the private sector and took a position as Security Operations Lead for Alert Logic. In this role, they managed a team of Application Security analysts who provided managed services for the Web Application Firewall. Josh also maintained daily operations support with peers, developed training and mentoring programs, and handled customer interactions based on emerging threats and alerts.

In August 2018, Josh joined National Oilwell Varco as an IT Security Engineer. In this role, they are responsible for developing internal security programs for 3rd party and internal risk assessments, building and evolving Cloud Security tools and frameworks, building and managing a Vulnerability Management program, and securing and monitoring over 30,000 endpoint systems.

Josh is currently AVP of Human Resources at Governors State University.

Josh Allen has a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Software Engineering from Western Governors University, an Associate of Science in Computer and Information Sciences and Support Services from San Antonio College, and a High School Diploma from Ramstein American High School. Josh is also certified in Situational Leadership: Building Leaders from The Center for Leadership Studies, Crucial Conversations from VitalSmarts, CIW Web Foundations Associate from Certification Partners, CompTIA A+ from CompTIA, MCP 70-680 from Microsoft, CompTIA Security+ from CompTIA, Cisco Certified Network Associate Security (CCNA) from Cisco, and Network+ from CompTIA.

Josh Allen reports to Cheryl Green, President. They are on a team with Therese King Nohos - VP, General Counsel, Carl Hampton - Chief Diversity Officer, and William Davis - VP, Institutional Advancement, Marketing, & Communications.
