CEO Steel business at GP Global Group

Kumar Kartikeya has a diverse and extensive work experience in the steel industry spanning over several decades. Kumar currently serves as the CEO of the Steel business at GP Global Group since 2020. In their previous role, they were the Senior Vice President Plant Head at UTTAM VALUE STEELS LTD from 2018 to 2020. Kumar was responsible for managing the operations of a one mtpa integrated steel plant, including the Steel Melt Shop, Hot Rolling Mill, and Cold Rolling Mill Complexes.

Prior to that, Kumar Kartikeya worked as the Vice President Projects & Operations at MESCO STEEL from 2016 to 2018. Their responsibilities included heading projects for an Electric Arc Furnace and a rebar mill, as well as overseeing the operations of Blast Furnace, DRI, and Induction Furnace.

From 2010 to 2016, Kumar Kartikeya held the position of General Manager Projects & Operations at Monnet Ispat & Energy Ltd. Raigarh. Kumar played a crucial role in the 0.8 mtpa Plate mill project and coordinated other operational activities.

Their earlier experience includes working as a Senior Operations Manager at Ispat Industries Ltd from 2004 to 2010. Kumar was responsible for achieving production targets and ensuring quality control at the Hot Strip Mill and Cold Rolling Mill Complex. Kumar also worked as an Operations Manager at JSW Steel from 1995 to 2004, where they oversaw various operations such as Pickling, Cold Rolling, HR Slitter, and Effluent Treatment Plant.

Kumar Kartikeya also has experience working at XLO UNITED CLUTCH PRODUCTS LTD as an Assistant Operations Manager from 1993 to 1995. Kumar was in charge of the Heat Treatment and Clutch assembly line, including activities such as Normalizing, Hardening, Case carburizing, and Pickling.

Kumar began their career at Delhi Forgings Ltd in 1989 as an Engineer, where they supervised forging and heat treatment operations of automotive components and managed the metallurgical lab.

Overall, Kumar Kartikeya has demonstrated a strong expertise in steel plant operations, project management, and team leadership throughout their career.

Kumar Kartikeya completed their Bachelor of Technology in Metallurgical Engineering at the National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur from 1981 to 1986. Kumar then pursued a Master of Business Administration degree in International Marketing at the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). In addition to their formal education, Kumar Kartikeya also obtained a Six Sigma Black Belt certification from Benchmark Six Sigma.
