Carl Bergquist

Principal Software Engineer at Grafana Labs

Carl Bergquist is a Principal Software Engineer at Grafana Labs. Carl has over eight years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on back-end development, web performance, and operations.

Bergquist began their career as a Senior Software Engineer at eBay in 2013. During their time at the company, they worked on rewriting the whole site, focusing mainly on the back end. Carl was also invited to the architect group, where they helped communicate the overall architecture within each team and ensure that no team diverged too much from the overall architecture.

In 2014, Bergquist was the technical lead for the Musikhjälpen charity campaign, which was a partnership between eBay and Klarna. Carl also helped stabilize eBay's internal system for exporting billing data to Ebay's global billing system. In addition, they helped the operations team migrate the monitoring system from an old proprietary system called sysorb to sensu.

Bergquist also initiated the work of using gitlab for internal source control management. Carl migrated part of the system into new repositories and setup nuget feeds between them. This enabled remote teams to work more independently compared to the rest of the system.

Bergquist's skills include C#, Nservicebus, javascript, nodejs, puppet, sensu, graphite, grafana, kibana, rabbitmq, asimov deploy, and nuget.

Carl Bergquist has a Bachelor's degree in Informatics from Örebro University.

Carl Bergquist works with Marty Disibio - Senior Software Engineer, Mario Rodriguez - Software Engineer, and Christian Simon - Senior Software Engineer. Carl Bergquist reports to Jon Gyllenswärd, Director, Engineering.
