Senior Research Histotechnologist at GRAIL

Brendan Posell has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Their most recent role is as a Senior Research Histotechnologist at GRAIL, Inc. where they oversee the Tissue Processing department and ensures compliance with quality standards. Brendan manages tissue processing activities such as receiving, organizing, and documenting patient slides and blocks, as well as performing investigations into QA/QC and non-compliance. Brendan also trains and manages staff on tissue processing workflows and performs quality control on tissue specimens. Brendan has expanded tissue processing capabilities through the incorporation of digital pathology and automation. Additionally, they are involved in non-tissue based NGS projects, including library preparation and sequencing.

Prior to their role at GRAIL, Brendan worked at Kaiser Permanente, where they held various positions including Lead Histotechnologist, Histotechnologist, and Laboratory Technician. At Lafayette Academy, they worked as a Tutor, and at Healthcare Security Services of California, Inc., they served as a Security Manager. Brendan also gained experience as a Site Manager at AlliedBarton Security Services.

Brendan Posell earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, from 2016 to 2018. Before attending Berkeley, Brendan attended Diablo Valley College from 2014 to 2016 and Chabot College from 2010 to 2014, where they pursued the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC).

In addition to their formal education, Brendan also obtained certifications in the field of healthcare. Brendan became a Histotechnologist through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) in July 2018. Furthermore, they acquired the Certified Phlebotomy Technician 1 certification from the California Department of Public Health in October 2014.
