Haoyun Lei has extensive experience in the field of bioinformatics and research. They are currently working as a Bioinformatics Data Scientist II at GRAIL since May 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Carnegie Mellon University from May 2017 to May 2022, where they held the positions of Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant. As a Research Assistant, Haoyun conducted patch-clamp experiments on muscle cells and neurons in C. elegans and made significant discoveries in aging decay and neuronal pathways. They also conducted literature searches, analyzed data, and wrote progress reports. As a Teaching Assistant, Haoyun assisted in teaching algorithms and advanced data structures. They also gained experience in bioinformatics through a summer internship at LabCorp in 2020. Haoyun Lei's work experience demonstrates their expertise in bioinformatics, research, and teaching.
Haoyun Lei began their education in 2008 at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology/Biological Sciences, General in 2012. They later enrolled at Carnegie Mellon University School of Computer Science and completed a Master of Science degree in Machine Learning from 2019 to 2021. During this time, in January 2020, they also obtained a certification in Introduction to Web Development from Coursera.
