Michael Schavey

Michael Schavey, MSW, MPA, serves as the Director of the Department of Experiential Learning at Grand Rapids Community College since January 2005, providing administrative leadership that emphasizes student success through high impact teaching and learning practices. Previous roles at Grand Rapids Community College include the Associate Director of the Academic Service-Learning Center and Community Liaison. At Child & Family Services of Muskegon, Michael worked as a Violence Intervention Program Therapist and Service-Learning Coordinator, offering social work services for expelled youth. Michael's experience also includes serving as a Case Manager for Michigan Works! at Grand Rapids Public Schools and as a Freshman Seminar Instructor at Grand Valley State University. Michael holds a B.S., MSW, and MPA from Grand Valley State University, with a major in Sociology and a minor in Psychology.
