POSITION OVERVIEW
Granite United Way is seeking a dynamic community builder to join the GUW Engagement team. The Community Engagement Director position is a critical contributor to meeting our mission to improve lives and help all people learn, earn, and be healthy. As a part of the engagement team, this position will be responsible for supporting corporate fundraising efforts; volunteer recruitment; engaging local volunteer leadership in investment decisions; and providing leadership to agency collaborations that build a stronger GUW and community.

Resource Development
• Responsible for building and maintaining strong, mutually beneficial relationships with key corporate partners, focusing on revenue generation, and promoting volunteerism.
• Support a portfolio of workplace, individual donors, and family foundations
• Set and manage regional revenue goals

Community Presence and Leadership
• Identify local needs and partnership opportunities
• Support integration of GUW initiatives in the portfolio of local impact
• Become involved in local service and community groups (Chamber, Rotary, Young Professionals)
• Communicate updates to senior leadership and to the community
• Develop local storytelling and content

Volunteer Engagement and Leadership
• Host regular meetings of regional Community Impact Committee that integrate resource generation, problem identification, and solution identification
• Support volunteer led grantmaking process
• Lead Day of Caring and regional volunteer engagement events.
Agency Relationships and Partnerships
• Manage grantmaking relationships
• Convene partners around community issues
• Outreach to new partners and networks
• Identify opportunities to increase partnerships
• Manage locally funded initiatives (Youth Enrichment, Leader in Me)
• Closely work with regional partnerships managed by GUW (South Central Public Health Network)

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  1. Bachelor’s degree or 3-5 years nonprofit experience preferred
  2. Excellent writing and editing skills with superior attention to detail.
  3. Familiarity with donor databases and CRM tools preferred
  4. Ability to lead, as well as work within, a team to ensure organizational growth and success.
  5. Strong business presentation and facilitation skills and collaborating skills.

ENVIRONMENT
The venue of this position is a general office environment that is clean, well lighted, environmentally comfortable, free of fumes or airborne particles, and only minimally exposes employees to office solvents limited to those relative to copier equipment.

This position requires the ability to:

  1. Minimal requirement to reach at or above shoulder level; occasional reaching below shoulder level required
  2. Hand manipulation - equipment and controls, frequent; grasping and handling, occasional
  3. Ability to travel throughout the territory required
  4. Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include night and weekends
  5. Ability to tolerate prolonged sitting and/or standing and to lift up to approximately 50 pounds to waist high level whenever necessary.
  6. Mobility includes regular sitting, some standing and walking.
