Manchester Proud is seeking to hire a part time intern to assist with its social media marketing. This is a new and temporary position, reporting to Manchester Proud’s Director of Community Communications.  The intern will generally work remotely through online meetings and communications.   Fieldwork in and about Manchester, to capture on-site photos and video, is expected.

Position Title:  Social Media Marketing Intern

Compensation and Benefits:  Hourly ($15/hour), part-time, non-benefited

Hours of Work:  Estimated 5-10 hours per week on average - this position will begin in late May/early June and end in September.

Background: Manchester Proud is a city-wide movement that “Builds community engagement and partnerships with the Manchester School District to champion student success and make exceptional public schools”.  Our work is driven by the beliefs that our public schools are an essential community asset and that great schools are best achieved through community engagement and partnerships.

Manchester Proud is a New Hampshire Non-profit, governed by its Champion’s Council of community representatives, including Manchester School District (MSD) leaders and teachers. It is managed day-to-day by a Manchester Proud Director and a staff of two: Community Partnerships Director and Community Communications Director. 

The role of the Champion’s Council is to provide oversight of Manchester Proud’s mission, ensure purpose and alignment of all Manchester Proud activities, and exercise fiduciary responsibilities. The work of Manchester Proud is generally performed by volunteer Work Groups designated by the Champion’s Council. Currently, these include: Fundraising, Membership and Equity, Communications, School - Community Partnerships Network, and School Celebrations.

Responsibilities:

  • Content Creation including copywriting as well as shooting video and photographs.
  • Posting and managing social media (Facebook, Instagram, X, Threads, LinkedIn, TikTok).
  • Assist with building social content from templates in Canva and work with brand marketing team members to build new templates as needed.
  • Discover and stay up to date on social media trends and strategies
  • Contribute new and creative ideas for social media content, helping to grow our followers and engagement
  • Assist in interacting with users and responding to social media messages, inquiries, and comments

Desired Skills and Qualities:

  • Experience with design software and graphics editing software, Canva and Photoshop
  • Experience taking videos and photos
  • Ability to work well within a team
  • Time management skills
  • A talent for creativity and problem-solving
  • Current High School Student and/or College Student
