Tom Walton has a diverse work experience in various industries. Tom began their career in 2010 as a Business Development Manager at AAM (formerly Grede Holdings LLC), where they provided technical engineering and sales support to introduce new production processes and products in the automotive, heavy truck, and tractor markets. During their time at AAM, they focused on implementing higher performance metals and weight-saving designs through the Lost Foam Metal casting process.

In 2016, Tom started their own company called Metallurgical Business Systems Consulting (MBSC), where they served as the Principal Owner. MBSC specialized in providing operational cost reduction opportunities, implementing Lean Enterprise deployment, and applying Six Sigma tools to improve manufacturing, distribution, and service enterprises. Tom successfully completed numerous projects, delivering annual savings ranging from $100K to $400K for clients.

In the same year, Tom joined Lhoist North America, East as a Technical Sales Manager for the Steel division. Tom was responsible for sales and customer technical guidance and service, focusing on lime injection into the Electric Arc Furnace. Tom collaborated with operations and logistics to increase value delivery and achieved sales growth for new product offerings. Tom also played a role in supplier quality improvements, lime use optimization, and cost reductions. Their work resulted in the execution of value improvement projects with yearly savings of $400K for multiple customers and justified a near $100 million capital investment in the plant.

Most recently, Tom joined Grede Holdings LLC in 2020 as a Production Control Manager before taking on the role of Senior Quality Engineer in 2021.

Tom Walton completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Metallurgical Engineering from The University of Alabama between 1979 and 1982. Later, they pursued a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Business Administration, Management and Operations from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, which they completed from 1991 to 1996. Additionally, Tom obtained two certifications, namely Certified Six Sigma Green Belt from AFS Indiana Quality Council in June 2007 and Certified Lean Enterprises from Alabama Technology Network, Auburn University in June 2006.
