Director, Business Development at Greenskies Clean Focus

Ethan Laney has a diverse work experience, starting with their most recent position as Director of Business Development at Greenskies Clean Focus since October 2022. Prior to this, they held the role of Business Development Manager at the same company, where they worked with large corporations and real estate owners to adopt solar energy solutions. Ethan also served as a Project Finance Manager, where they oversaw pricing and agreements for solar projects across the United States and successfully built and managed a new department. Before that, as a Project Finance Associate, they developed financial models and conducted analysis in the distributed solar market.

Before joining Greenskies Clean Focus, Ethan worked as a Field Engineer at Phillips & Jordan, Inc., specializing in electricity transmission projects. Ethan was responsible for performing takeoffs for bid projects, reviewing bid documents, and serving as the primary point of contact for subcontractors. Ethan also gained experience as a General Laborer at the same company, where they installed and verified environmental best management practices.

Additionally, Ethan worked as an EHS Intern at BD, where they implemented a software program to track chemical inventories and presented research and recommendations to the Safety Committee. Ethan also examined waste streams to reduce environmental impacts and lower disposal and electricity costs.

Early in their career, Ethan worked as a Public Outreach Specialist at the Fund for the Public Interest, focusing on grassroots campaigning and fundraising for the North Carolina state parks system. Ethan engaged the public through various activities and facilitated discussions on environmental issues.

Throughout their career, Ethan has demonstrated a strong focus on renewable energy, project finance, business development, and environmental sustainability.

Ethan Laney began their education at Wake Technical Community College in 2011, where they pursued a degree in Intended Transfer. Ethan attended this college until 2013. Following that, Ethan attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 2013 to 2015, where they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Studies. In terms of additional certifications, Ethan obtained the Advanced Open Water SCUBA certification from PADI in July 2014 and the HAZWOPER 40-hr certification from OSHA-Training.com in March 2016.
