Ed Medford

Ed Medford has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Ed began their career at the University of Tennessee as a Systems Analyst, where they worked on various projects for different departments. Ed then transitioned to Knoxville Utilities Board, starting as a Systems Analyst and eventually becoming the Manager of Information Services. In this role, they provided strategic direction, managed the Information Services Department, and oversaw budgeting and support for all technology at the company. Ed also served as the Manager of Key Accounts, where they were responsible for customer service and contract management for the company's largest customers. Later, they became the Manager of Economic Development & Government Relations, focusing on recruitment, retention, and expansion of business customers. Their most recent position is as Vice President of Energy Management at GRIID, where they are responsible for identifying and managing sources of carbon-free power for data centers used in cryptocurrency mining and block chain computing. Overall, Ed Medford has a strong background in IT management, customer service, and business development.

Ed Medford earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a focus on General Business from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Ed attended the university from 1983 to 1994. Following their undergraduate studies, they pursued further education and obtained an MBA in Finance from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga from 1994 to 1997. In addition to their formal education, Ed Medford has obtained several certifications throughout their career. These include certification as an Open Water Scuba Instructor from SSI Scuba Schools International in October 2020, Certified Power Executive from the Tennessee Valley Public Power Association in May 2009, Able ToastMaster from Toastmasters International in July 1992, Competent ToastMaster from Toastmasters International in July 1990, and Certified Computer Professional from the Institute for Certification of Computing Professionals in May 1989.
