Maria Caffrey

Principal Climate Scientist (unit Lead) at Gro Intelligence

Maria Caffrey is a highly experienced climate scientist currently serving as the Principal Climate Scientist at Gro Intelligence since October 2020, where roles have included Climate Scientist and Project Lead. Previous experience includes a position as a Blogger for the Union of Concerned Scientists and as a Geoscientist in the Park with Conservation Legacy, focusing on restoring freshwater habitats through a mitigation banking program. As a Partner with the National Park Service, Maria led a research team at the University of Colorado Boulder, overseeing significant budget projects and examining climate change impacts in coastal regions as a Visiting Scientist. Additionally, Maria served as a Research Associate at the University of Colorado Boulder, conducting a project on climate change effects on 118 coastal National Parks, and taught various geography courses as a Lecturer at the University of Tennessee. Maria Caffrey holds a PhD in Geography from the University of Tennessee, a MA in Geography from the University of Denver, and a BSc in Geography from the University of Plymouth.
