Marie-Claire Barker

Marie-Claire Barker is the current Chief People Officer at GroupM. Marie-Claire has held this position since July 2018.

Prior to their current role, Marie-Claire served as the Global Chief Talent Officer at Edelman from January 2015 to July 2018. In this role, they were responsible for leading the people solutions through critical phases of the organization, including during the height of the Coronavirus pandemic. Marie-Claire was also responsible for aligning the talent function more closely to business operations and, through this, ensuring that Edelman continued to foster a unique culture that puts people at the center of their operation in addition to its inclusivity and diversity practices.

Before their role at Edelman, Marie-Claire served as the Global Chief Talent Officer at Wavemaker from January 2015 to July 2018. Wavemaker is a media agency network with 8,500 employees in 90 countries. Marie-Claire was responsible for leading the global talent efforts for Wavemaker and was committed to growth for their people, their clients and their industry.

Marie-Claire has a proven track record in talent management and is known for their innovative approach to cultivating a culture where every employee has the opportunity to deliver in their own unique way.

Marie-Claire Barker has a degree in Human Resources Management and Services from Kingston University. Marie-Claire is a Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development certified professional, with additional certification in Hogan, Mental Health First Aid at Work, BPSI Level 2, ECI accredited user, and Lominger Leadership Architect Tools. Marie-Claire is also an Myers Briggs Type Indicator certified professional.
