Jeff James has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over several industries and roles. Jeff currently holds the position of Head of People Experience at Grove Collaborative since December 2022. Prior to that, they served as the Sr Director People Experience at the same company from January 2021 to December 2022, and as the Director of People Operations from January 2020 to January 2021.

Before joining Grove Collaborative, Jeff worked as the Director of People at thredUP, a Bay Area startup in second-hand retail, from June 2017 to April 2019. Jeff successfully built a team of HR Business partners across multiple locations and played a crucial role in driving a high-performance work culture.

Jeff also has a significant tenure at Netflix, where they held various roles from 2007 to 2017. Jeff also served as a Regional Human Resources Consultant and Manager at McDonald's Corporation, where they led the HR function for the Rocky Mountain region.

Prior to that, Jeff worked as a Geographic Human Resources Manager at Alderwoods Group, providing HR support to multiple locations across the Western United States. Jeff developed key HR initiatives, such as Employee Handbook, Policy Manual, and Work Rules.

Jeff's career began at General Motors, where they held roles as a Training Coordinator/Salaried Personnel Representative and Employee Relations Representative. In these positions, they provided HR support, conducted disciplinary actions, and resolved grievances.

Jeff James received a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Labor and Employee Relations from the University of Cincinnati, where they studied from 2000 to 2002. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Human Resources Management from the same university, from 1996 to 1998.

In addition to their academic degrees, Jeff has attained several certifications to enhance their professional qualifications. In October 2016, they obtained the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification from the HR Certification Institute (HRCI). Jeff also earned the SHRM - Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certification from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) in December 2015. Additionally, Jeff achieved the Strategic HR Business Partner designation from the Human Capital Institute (HCI) in May 2019.
