Shane Barry

Shane Barry has a diverse work experience in software engineering and development. Shane is currently employed as a Senior Software Engineer at Grove Collaborative since December 2020. Prior to this, Shane worked as the Founder & CEO of Build Easy, a cost tracking application for construction companies, from March 2016 to December 2020. During their role at Build Easy, they created a highly scalable platform and developed a NodeJS Quickbooks Online integration that increased user adoption.

Shane also worked as a Freelance Software Engineer for various clients from January 2017 to August 2019. In this role, they implemented a user signin/signup workflow that boosted user engagement and optimized an Angular SPA to handle increased web traffic.

Before that, Shane worked as a Product Engineer at Frontdesk Anywhere from November 2014 to March 2016. Shane designed and developed a PostgreSQL environment and refactored a PHP API to facilitate data transfer.

Shane's earlier experience includes roles at AmerisourceBergen, where they worked as a Software Developer II, SQL Server Developer, and Systems Support Analyst II. In these roles, they built a custom CMS using C# & .NET, designed and tested application systems using MS SQL, and conducted regular SQL backups and restores.

Shane began their career as an IT Intern at Premier Source, where they developed and implemented basic SQL updates and resolved technical problems within the organization's network.

Shane Barry began their education in 2006 at University College Cork, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Information Systems. Shane completed this program in 2010. Following that, in 2010, they went on to pursue a Master of Science degree in Food Business at the same institution, which they completed in 2012. In 2014, Shane attended UC Berkeley Extension, where they studied New Product Development for one semester. Later that year, they also enrolled in a program at UC Berkeley Extension focused on Developing Applications for the iOS (iPhone).
