Bill Covey is the EVP & General Counsel at GROWMARK, Inc. Prior to their current position, they worked as an IT Security Solutions Architect at Optum from February 2016 to July 2017. In this role, they were responsible for determining security requirements by evaluating business strategies and contract requirements, acting as a subject matter expert to guide and craft complex security controls for cloud based solutions, and establishing security criteria based on business, compliance, risk reduction and use cases. Bill also produced and maintained required Security Architecture documentation, recommended security controls, improvements, upgrades, and purchases, and delivered metrics that demonstrate current risk state, indicators of progress, and business alignment. In addition, they collaborated with peers and other technology professionals to create innovative solutions, partnered with Project Management Office to provide trusted consulting services to clients, and contributed in daily Agile (SCRUM) meetings as a Security SME. Bill was also the security lead and primary point of contact for multi-million-dollar government contracts.
Bill Covey has completed a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance from Western Governors University, an Associates of Science in Computer Science Technology from Three Rivers Community College - Company, and High School General Studies from East Lyme High School. Bill Covey is also certified from CompTIA in CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+), CompTIA Project+, Certification Partners (CIW) in Site Development Associate, AXELOS Global Best Practice in IT Information Library Foundations Certification (ITIL), CompTIA A+ ce Certification, (ISC)² in Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), and CompTIA IT Operations Specialist – CIOS Stackable Certification, and CompTIA Network+ ce Certification.
