Bram Govaerts serves as the Director General of the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) since July 2007, overseeing operations aimed at transforming global agricultural practices to enhance food security while sustainable farming practices are prioritized. Govaerts has held multiple leadership roles within CIMMYT, including Chief Operating Officer and Director of the Integrated Development Program, focusing on policy integration, innovative partnerships, and large-scale projects like MasAgro in Mexico. In addition to responsibilities at CIMMYT, Govaerts is an Andrew D. White Professor-at-Large at Cornell University and an independent corporate board member for Grupo Ceres. An accomplished academic, Govaerts has authored over 70 peer-reviewed articles in soil science and agronomy, holding a Ph.D. from KU Leuven and advanced professional training from the University of Oxford.
