Vitor Magalhaes

Vitor Magalhaes has a long and varied work experience. Vitor began their career in 2006 at NDrive Navigation Systems SA as a Junior Software Developer, where they implemented new features for the cross-platform C/C++ GUI toolkit, developed modern UI components, implemented a new 2D/3D vector map, and ported NDrive applications to Symbian OS and Samsung Bada platforms.

Vitor then moved up to Senior Software Engineer, where they coded a new generation of 3D mobile rendering engine for vector maps with multi-threading support, and implemented an application sound system for voice streaming.

In their role as Lead Developer, they developed an iOS app using MVVM, Reactive-Cocoa, Kiwi, Swift, and Objective-C, and created custom automation scripts for Android and iOS.

Finally, they were appointed Chief Technology Officer, where they were responsible for the technical leadership of Truck Professional Navigation products, lead development for iOS applications, and hiring and mentoring high-performance engineers.

In 2018, Vitor Magalhaes joined GYANT as Director of Engineering. Vitor also held the positions of Lead Software Engineer and Lead Mobile Engineer. In the former role, they provided technical leadership for multiple projects, collaborated with Product and Customer Success Teams to define timeline and specifications, and created and refined processes across multiple teams to improve productivity and code quality. For the latter role, they were hands-on leader of the new mobile app written using Flutter, developed native iOS and Android SDKs using Flutter App2App capabilities, and implemented CI pipelines for the apps and SDKs.

Vitor Magalhaes obtained a Master's degree in Computer Science from Universidade Fernando Pessoa between 2003 and 2009.
