Jill Reimer

Jill (Kila) is an international development specialist with more than 25 years of experience working in humanitarian disaster response and long-term development programming in both Africa and Asia. Jill is passionate about improving quality of life with and for vulnerable and marginalized populations through building human capacity, enabling genuine participation, generating and applying evidence, collaboration, and focused influencing. Her field experience is deep and wide – encompassing needs assessment, program design and management; strategic planning; grant acquisition and management; training and capacity building; evaluation; and research, with a specialization in qualitative methodologies.

Jill’s areas of particular technical expertise include education (ECCD, basic education, life-skills, career guidance, NFE), gender, counter-human trafficking, child protection, and community mobilization. Her doctoral dissertation through the University of British Columbia (UBC), Vancouver explored the intersection of culture and formal education – how western ideas about constructivist education have been negotiated in a Southeast Asian, low-income country context.
