Eleni Athanasopoulou

Graduate Civil Engineer at Halff

Eleni Athanasopoulou started their work experience in 2012 as a Teaching Assistant at Rutgers University, where they conducted recitations and managed the fluid mechanics lab while instructing, mentoring, and assisting students. Eleni also worked as a Research Engineer at the university, focusing on a study sponsored by GORR & NJDEP to develop flood risk reduction strategies for vulnerable coastal populations along the Hudson River. In this role, they studied the background, developed a flood risk reduction strategy framework, and modeled and calculated various flood risk reduction measures. In 2017, Eleni joined Halff Associates as a Graduate Civil Engineer.

Eleni Athanasopoulou completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Water Resources and Environment and Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Patras, where they studied from 2004 to 2010. Eleni then pursued further education at Rutgers University, where they earned a Master of Science degree in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering from 2011 to 2013. Following this, they continued their studies at Rutgers University and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from 2013 to 2016.
