Artist And Innovator In Residence at Halifax Public Libraries

Christine Hempel is an urban designer, artist, and innovator with extensive experience in community engagement, urban planning, and housing consulting. Currently serving as the Artist and Innovator in Residence at Halifax Public Libraries, Hempel has also worked with Tim Welch Consulting Inc and operated their own design and planning firm. With a background in postdoctoral research, Hempel has a strong foundation in designing community-based participatory planning models and exploring residents' values in landscape character. Additionally, their teaching experience includes courses in sustainability, landscape history, and developing a sense of place.
