Jud DeCew

CTO at HALO

Jud DeCew is the CTO at HALO Maritime Defense Systems. Jud has also worked as a Research Assistant Professor at the University of New Hampshire from June 2011 to August 2013. In this role, they were the principal investigator for commissioned domestic and international research projects across four continents. Jud is the author or co-author of 35 published journal articles and conference proceedings.

DeCew has also collaborated with government, research, and commercial partners in the US, Norway, Chile, Turkey, Cyprus, and the Faeroe Islands. Jud has researched, designed, and deployed flexible and deep-water structures for aquaculture systems, shellfish longlines, oceanographic buoys, and marine renewable energy generation devices. In addition, they have developed proposals for commercial and US Government funding.

DeCew has presented at 12 conferences on state of the art research and commercial applications of niche marine products. Jud has also served as faculty advisor to graduate and undergraduate level students. Furthermore, they have conducted field operations for deployment and installation of submersible marine finfish cages both domestically and internationally.

DeCew has also designed measurement systems and analytical methods, deployed Instrumentation, and conducted processing of collected data for marine-environment research projects. Jud has also published & presented reports, managed budgets and ensured university compliance. Lastly, they participated in workshops on marine renewable energy moorings and foundations, aquaculture systems and use of copper alloys in the marine environment.
