We’re looking for an

Underwriting Assistant, Property Insurance

Reporting to the SVP, Head of Property Insurance, you will assist in all phases of the underwriting cycle.

Hamilton Re is our Bermuda insurer underwriting property, casualty and specialty insurance and reinsurance on a global basis.

What you will help us do

  • Receive submissions, download information and set up new business and renewal files

  • Conduct extensive review and analysis of submissions of insured operations, products and other coverage-relevant exposures

  • Ensure timely login and accuracy of all underwriting data within the underwriting and other relevant business systems

  • Produce accurate quotes, binders and polices in line with our underwriting policies & procedures

  • Develop working relationships with local and overseas brokers & their assistants, accounting, premium processing and claims teams

  • Assist in administration and management reporting of portfolios

  • Contribute to system testing, ad hoc projects and research work

What you require for the role

  • 2+ years in a similar role with D&F Proiperty Insurance experience preferred
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, specifically Excel
  • Ability to work independently & proactively within a small underwriting team
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, good organisational skills, and the ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Effective communication skills and problem-solving abilities
  • An interest in adopting technology to increase efficiencies
