Michael Southerland

Michael Southerland, MBA, has extensive experience in employee benefits administration and retirement counseling. Currently serving as the Industrial Shop Manager at Hampden County Sheriff's Office since April 2013, Michael has held various roles including Human Resources Supervisor II and Personnel Specialist, overseeing the employee benefits programs such as health, dental, life, vision insurance, and pension plans. Prior to this, Michael worked at Massachusetts State Board of Retirement from 2002 to 2013, where responsibilities included establishing the first regional office and providing retirement counseling. Michael's earlier experience includes positions at Verizon Communication and the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Academically, Michael holds an MBA from the Isenberg School of Management, UMass Amherst, along with a Bachelor of Arts in Business (Marketing) from American International College and an Associate of Arts in Business (Marketing) from Springfield Technical Community College.
