Lilian McIntosh is a Water Technology and Research Assistant at HRSD since June 2022. Previously, Lilian held the position of Water/Wastewater Utilities Intern at Kimley-Horn from May 2021 to August 2021, where effective communication with industry experts and clients was demonstrated. Prior experience includes serving as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Brookhaven National Laboratory from May 2019 to November 2020, focusing on developing a manufacturing process for plastic scintillator tiles for a Hadronic Calorimeter. Lilian McIntosh is currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy degree at Virginia Tech, expected to be completed in May 2027, and holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Abilene Christian University, earned in May 2022.

Welcome. Since HRSD's inception, there has been one overriding mission -- to protect public health and the waters of Hampton Roads by treating wastewater effectively. HRSD returns treated effluent to nature in a way that will continue to nurture our water's delicate ecosystems. HRSD's workforce of scientists, engineers, water quality professionals and other staff know they must be sensitive to the needs of people and also be sensitive to the plants and animals who rely on our ability to protect their habitats.
