Lydia M. Contreras

Lydia M. Contreras, PhD, is a Professor of Chemical Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin since January 2011. In addition to academic pursuits, Lydia serves as Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer at Grio Baby since 2019 and holds the position of Chair of the Executive Board at Hand to Hold, also since 2019. Prior experience includes a role as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Wadsworth-New York State Dept of Health from September 2008 to December 2010. Lydia earned a Bachelor of Science and Engineering in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University (1999-2003) and a Doctor of Philosophy in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University (2003-2008), along with completing early education at Riverdale Country School and Colegio Dominicano de la Salle.
