Susan Nickey

Susan Nickey is the executive vice president and chief client officer.

Ms. Nickey joined Hannon Armstrong in 2014 as a managing director. Previously, she founded and served as chief executive officer of Threshold Power. Prior to Threshold, Ms. Nickey was the chief financial officer of ACCIONA Energy North America from 2007-2010 and was a managing director of investment banking in the project finance group of Mesirow Financial before that.

She currently serves as treasurer of the board of directors for the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA). She also serves as interim treasurer on the transition board of the newly-formed American Clean Power Association (ACPA) and is a member of the board of directors for the American Council of Renewable Energy (ACORE). Additionally, Ms. Nickey is a member of the President’s Council at Ceres, a non-profit sustainability advocacy organization.

Ms. Nickey is a frequent speaker at renewable energy events, particularly on topics related to capital markets and financing trends for clean energy, including wind, solar, and storage. In 2020, she was recognized as the “Women of the Year” by The Cleanie Awards and was also named to the North American Power List of the 100 most influential individuals in the wind industry for the third time.

Ms. Nickey holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Notre Dame and a Master of Science in foreign service from Georgetown University.
