Shuen Mei

Shuen Mei has over 15 years of work experience in various technology and data-related roles. Shuen is currently the VP and Director of Software and Data Engineering at Harbor Capital Advisors, Inc. In this role, they oversee the development and management of software and data engineering projects. Prior to their current position, Shuen Mei worked as the VP of Data Engineering and Analytics at Aspen Dental Management, Inc. and as the VP of Enterprise Data Lake Architecture Leader at Synchrony. Shuen also served as the VP of Technology at ThinkMarkets and as the Director of Data Management & Analytics at Options Clearing Corporation. Shuen Mei has a strong background in finance, having worked as the VP of Senior Tech Manager and VP of Tech Manager at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Bank of America, respectively. Shuen has also worked as a Senior Software Consultant at Symphono, LLC, providing software consultation for trading applications. Shuen Mei has a track record of leading global teams and implementing innovative solutions in the technology and data management fields.

Shuen Mei earned a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from Peking Union Medical College, where they studied from 1990 to 1995. Prior to that, they obtained a Certificate in Biology from Peking University, completing their studies from 1987 to 1990. Shuen then pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Management Information Systems (MIS) at the University of Illinois Chicago, which they completed from 1999 to 2000.

In addition to their formal education, Shuen Mei obtained various certifications. In March 2017, they became an AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate Level through Amazon. Shuen obtained the Databricks Certified Developer for Apache Spark certification from Databricks in December 2015. In April 2015, Shuen Mei received the Cloudera Certified Specialist in Apache HBase certification, and in March 2014, they obtained the Cloudera Certified Administrator for Apache Hadoop and the Cloudera Certified Developer for Apache Hadoop certifications. Finally, in March 2013, they received the Certified Scrum Master certification from Scrum Alliance.
