About the Job:

Harness is looking for an experienced Senior Payroll Analyst/Accountant to be an integral part of the global accounting operations team. This position will be based in Bangalore, India and will be reporting to the Global Sr Payroll Manager in HQ.  In this role, your primary responsibility is to ensure the smooth running of the day to day payroll operations for our employees in India.  You will provide ideas and help brainstorm on process standardization, automation, and improvement in all aspects of payroll along with providing a world class employee experience to our employees as Harness continues to grow and expand our accounting presence in India.  You are expected to collaborate with cross functional business partners to build partnerships and efficiency. Responsibilities: 

  • Manage the end-to-end payroll operations for India, including payroll calculation, validation, funding, reconciliation, and distribution.
  • Facilitate weekly onboarding and new hire orientation
  • Ensure compliance with local tax laws, statutory regulations, and company policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with the global payroll team, HR, finance, and external vendors to resolve any payroll issues or queries.
  • Review and improve the payroll processes and systems to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and security.
  • Resolve employee clarifications and educate them about policy.
  • Assist with the monthly preparation and reconciliation of international payroll entities
  • Partner with the US payroll team to provide continuous support to the payroll ticketing queue
  • Prepare payroll and stock journal entries for India and international entities (EMEA and APAC) and ensure the accuracy of related balance sheet reconciliations
  • Manage relationships with all stakeholders, including the payroll service provider for improvements, and foster strong collaboration with the payroll and Finance Team. 
  • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reports and tax filings to the relevant authorities as required.

Required Qualifications/What You Need to Succeed:

  • 5-7 years of payroll/accounting/general ledger experience with an emphasis knowledge of payroll-related requirements and regulations in India. 
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work independently on regular routine assignments, including managing time to meet critical deadlines
  • Maintain confidentiality in all assignments and in all information obtained, performing with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic and flexibility to work extended hours during critical periods such as month-end, quarter-end and year-end
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization both internally and externally. 
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft business suite with strong Excel skills
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge and mindset for automation and process improvement for scalability.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred

Work Location/Work Hours:

  • This is a hybrid role with 3 days on-site in our Harness’s Bangalore office
  • Flexible working hours with an overlapping of 2-3 hours to US business hours to collaborate with the global payroll team and global business partners
