Nick Smyth

Nick Smyth has a strong background in engineering and leadership roles. Nick is currently serving as the Vice President Of Engineering at Harness since January 2021. Before that, they worked at Puppet for six years, starting in August 2014. At Puppet, they held various roles, including VP Engineering, Sr Director of Engineering & Belfast Site Lead, and Belfast Site Lead & Director of Engineering. Prior to Puppet, Nick worked at Vello Systems as the Site Lead & Development Manager from June 2013 to July 2014. Nick established a 30-resource team and set up the Belfast base for the company. Before that, they were at IBM, where they were the Site Lead & Development Manager for Q1 Labs from May 2012 to June 2013 and a Development & Release Manager from February 2010 to May 2012. Nick played a key role in the transition of Q1 Labs to IBM and was responsible for delivering key security products. Before joining IBM, Nick was a Development & Release Manager at Intelliden from October 2005 to February 2010, overseeing the delivery of major releases, service packs, and patches. Nick also managed the Level 3 support team for key customers. Nick started their career at Nortel Networks in 1994, where they held roles as a Senior Software Engineer, Technical Project Manager, and Development & Release Manager from 1994 to 2005.

Nick Smyth attended Queen's University Belfast from 1988 to 1993, but the degree and field of study are not specified. Before attending Queen's University Belfast, they studied at St Michaels Enniskillen, although the specific years are not provided. Nick later went on to pursue an MSc in Computer Software and Systems Design at Newcastle University.
