Brett Popplewell is an accomplished academic and journalist with extensive experience in both fields. Currently serving as an Associate Professor at Carleton University in the School of Journalism and Communication since July 2017, Brett also held the position of Assistant Professor there. In addition to academia, Brett has been a Book Author with HarperCollins Canada since September 2015 and has contributed as a Freelance Writer to notable publications such as The Walrus, Maclean's, Bloomberg BusinessWeek, Mother Jones, and The Globe and Mail. Prior roles include Bureau Chief at the University of Toronto's Munk School of Global Affairs, Journalism Instructor at Ryerson University and Carleton University, and Senior Writer at Sportsnet. Brett began a journalism career as a Reporter for the Toronto Star, focusing on city, business, and investigative reporting. Educational qualifications include a Master of Arts in History of International Relations from The London School of Economics and Political Science, along with a BJ/BA in Journalism and Political Science from Carleton University. Currently, Brett is furthering education at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.
