 Harris Group is seeking a temporary Project Engineer to join our Thousand Oaks, CA office.

The Role

The Project Engineer performs assignments of limited scope which require the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related design engineering tasks.  Detailed instructions are provided by an immediate supervisor for new assignments. Assignments involve some unusual or difficult problems requiring job knowledge. 

 This is an hourly appointment based on project needs. The initial expectation for the project duration is 6 months with the possibility to extend. This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities. 

The Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical resource on complex designs and advance engineering theories, concepts, principles, and processes
  • Be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) to review engineering tasks and assist Project Managers
  • Review multi-discipline engineering designs, working with other members of the project team, and coordinate with other disciplines on specific projects
  • Coordinate design with vendor supplied equipment
  • Support equipment operation and maintenance
  • Production and basic engineering tasks
  • Field information gathering and surveying
  • Understand client’s standards and requirements
  • Design, Vendor and Shop drawings review
  • Construction RFI review and development of responses
  • Regular and reliable attendance
  • Ability and willingness to travel to an off-site location and/or accept client site assignments when required

The Requirements  

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical/Process or Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years of relevant experience 

  • Working knowledge of mechanical engineering techniques commonly used in industrial capital projects

  • Familiarity with process system design and equipment (i.e. pumps, fans, heat exchangers, cooling towers, boilers, chillers, conveyors and air handlers)

  • Ability to review and understand P&IDs and PFDs

  • Life Sciences or Biotech experience is preferred

  • Ability to identify, interpret and apply relevant codes and standards to engineering designs.

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Strong communication skills

  • Attention to detail is a must

  • Ability and willingness to travel to Thousand Oaks Daily will be required

  • Ability to use a computer and computer software programs, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
