Director Of Safety And Security at Hattiesburg Convention Commission

Chad B. Thomas has extensive work experience in law enforcement and security. Chad B. worked as the Director of Safety and Security at the Hattiesburg Convention Commission starting in 2022. Prior to that, from 1996 to 2021, they held various roles at the United States Capitol Police, including Assistant Chief of Police and Deputy Chief. In these positions, they commanded a diverse workforce, oversaw dignitary protection and criminal investigation operations, and interacted with senior staff of Congressional members. From January to June 2022, they also worked as a consultant.

Chad B. Thomas has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland, which they obtained from 1991 to 1995. Chad B. also attended the Police Executive Research Forum - Senior Management Institute for Police in 2009 for Session 43. Chad is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice from William Carey University, which they are expected to complete from 2022 to 2024.

In terms of certifications, Chad has obtained several. In 2023, they became a member of ASIS International and earned the Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) Instructor certification from the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service - TEEX. Additionally, Chad obtained the Situational Awareness Specialist (SAS) certification from Arcuri Group in 2023.

Furthermore, Chad has the Essentials of ESRM Certificate from ASIS International, obtained in 2022, as well as the USF Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification from USF Corporate Training and Professional Education, also obtained in 2022.
