Tom Lyons

Chief Financial Officer at Hayward Tyler Group PLC

Thomas “Tom” Lyons joined Hayward Tyler in 2014 and serves as its Chief Financial Officer. Tom helped the company transition to new ownership under Avingtrans in 2017, and today he oversees the financial reporting, planning, risk management, banking, and acquisition activities of the Engineered Pump and Motor Division of Avingtrans, PLC. In 2019, he led Hayward Tyler’s acquisition of Energy Steel & Supply Co. of Lapeer, MI.

Beginning his career as an analyst in the international project finance office of Fortune 500 engineering company, Morrison-Knudsen Corp., Tom later joined that company’s locomotive division as it was being spun off as MotivePower Industries, a publicly-traded company based in Pittsburgh, PA. At MotivePower, He served as Vice President and Treasurer during years of growth and expansion and managed the placement of over a billion dollars in syndicated bank financing for international projects, acquisitions, and mergers, including the company’s transformative merger with Westinghouse Air Brake Company.

Tom is a graduate of the University of Vermont where he studied English Literature, Physics, and Chinese language. He is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society, Alpha of Vermont chapter, and holds a master’s degree in international management from Thunderbird (The American Graduate School of International Management). He enjoys skiing, sailing, cycling, and tennis with his two teenagers from his home base in South Burlington, Vermont.
