Bret Harmon has an extensive work experience spanning across multiple industries. Bret started their career in 1996 as an International Representative for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where they worked on various volunteer initiatives. Later, in 1998, they worked as an Accounting Clerk at Kamdar & Co. In 1999, they became Assistant General Manager at The Recognition Source, where they managed production and human resources departments and designed custom art for clients.
In 2002, Bret worked as an Administrative Services Analyst Intern at the City of Sandy, where they collaborated with department heads to implement performance measures, designed and published budget documents, and identified potential budget waste. During the same year, they also worked as a Management Analyst Intern at the City of Alpine, where their work involved writing grant applications, conducting community outreach efforts, and developing performance measures for City departments.
Later, in 2003, Bret started working at Muniservices, LLC, as a Client Services Manager and was later promoted to Vice President - Client Innovation. During their tenure at Muniservices, Bret advised hundreds of local government leaders on ways to preserve, enhance and manage their revenue base by providing comprehensive revenue enhancement services. Bret also managed various project teams and directed sales campaigns to gain market share in current and new markets.
In 2017, Bret joined the City of Lindsay as City Manager (Interim) and then as Director of Finance and City Clerk where they worked with staff, council members and community members to pass a 1% transactions and use tax to save public safety and the general fund.
In 2020, Bret worked as an Administrative Services Director for the City of Sanger, CA, and later became Director of Finance for the City of Manteca in 2021. Currently, Bret is the Director of Client Experience at HdL Companies, a role they were appointed to in 2022.
Bret Harmon, MPA attended Lakeridge High School from 1991 to 1995. Bret then attended Brigham Young University from 1998 to 2001 where they earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Organizational Development. From 1998 to 2003, Bret continued their education at Brigham Young University and obtained a Master of Public Administration degree with a focus on Local Government Management, Business Management, and Human Resources Management. There is no record of Bret having any additional certifications.
