Peter Smith

Chair at Head-Royce School

Peter graduated from Head-Royce in 1978 and is the father of a Head-Royce graduate, Andrew '10. Peter is a mediator and arbitrator with ADR Services. Prior to his current position, Peter was an Alameda County prosecutor and an attorney in private practice. He also served in a number of public positions, including as chair of the Oakland Planning Commission and the Oakland General Plan Congress which wrote the current general plan. Peter earned an A.B. in Economics from Harvard in 1982 and received his law degree from the University of San Francisco in 1986. Peter previously served on the Head-Royce Board of Trustees from 1988-1991 as President of the Alumni Council. He has assisted the School in a variety of ways, primarily around facilities, long-term planning, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
