Anne Rushman

Associate Director, Research and Evaluation at Health Resources in Action

Anne Rushman has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Anne began their career as a Policy Intern at Robin Carnahan for Senate in 2009. In 2010, they joined Health Resources in Action as a Program Coordinator, where they developed marketing strategies, conducted youth research projects, and prepared budgets for grant applications.

In 2012, Anne worked as a Research Fellow at The Center on Alcohol Marketing and Youth, where they published a journal article on alcohol marketing regulations on social networking sites. Anne also monitored and analyzed the presence of alcohol in social media. Additionally, in the same year, they served as a Research Assistant at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, collecting and managing data for a study on reducing sugar-sweetened beverage consumption among adolescents.

From 2013 to 2014, Anne held the role of Massachusetts Healthy Air Coordinator at the American Lung Association of the Northeast, managing state and federal level policy campaign to improve outdoor air quality. Anne also grew and maintained a strong coalition of public health and healthcare groups for environmental campaigns.

Anne then joined Health Resources in Action again in 2014 as a Program Associate, responsible for managing the administrative grant functions of the New England Asthma Innovation Collaborative. Anne analyzed intervention data and conducted focus groups to inform the initiative.

In 2016, Anne became a Government Innovation Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School's Government Performance Lab. In this role, they provided technical assistance to the Rhode Island State Government, developed accountable metrics for new contracts, and assessed the non-Emergency Medical Transportation program to improve outcomes and performance.

After their fellowship, Anne worked at the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Lead Project Manager, responsible for program integrity in MassHealth. Anne then returned to Health Resources in Action in 2018 as a Senior Associate, Research and Evaluation, before being promoted to Associate Director in January 2022.

Throughout their career, Anne has demonstrated their expertise in research, evaluation, and program management in various public health and policy settings.

Anne Rushman completed their education at the following institutions:

- In 2006, they started attending Washington University in St. Louis and graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Public Health.

- In 2009, they attended the School for International Training for a brief period focusing on Public Health and Development.

- From 2012 to 2014, they pursued a Master of Science in Public Health degree at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, specializing in Health Policy.
