John Watson

John Watson has a diverse work experience in the healthcare industry. John is currently working as the Chief Growth Officer at HealthStrategy, LLC since June 2023. Prior to this, they held the position of Vice President, Pharmacy Strategy and Growth at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma & Texas from March 2021 to June 2023, and also served as the Pharmacy Sales Vice President from March 2019 to March 2021.

Before joining Blue Cross and Blue Shield, John worked at Prime Therapeutics as the Vice President of Employer Group Sales from December 2017 to March 2019.

Their earlier roles include working as a Lead Pharmacy Practice Consultant at Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. from July 2016 to December 2017, where they provided strategic advice on pharmacy benefits and drug spend management.

John also has extensive experience at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma & Texas, where they served as the Divisional Vice President of Pharmacy from July 2015 to July 2016, managing sales and account management support. John also held the position of Director of Pharmacy / Product Development Pharmacist from August 2011 to July 2015, where they provided account management and support to local plan operations.

Before transitioning to managed care pharmacy, John worked as a Pharmacy Manager and Clinical Pharmacist at Kroger and Guardian Health Systems from October 2008 to August 2011. John managed the clinical and operations functions of various community pharmacy distribution channels.

Throughout their career, John has displayed expertise in strategic planning, client management, and pharmacy benefit optimization.

John Watson completed their Pre-Pharmacy Studies at Baylor University before earning a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from The University of Texas at Austin, College of Pharmacy.
