Alexandra Arcaya

Project Manager & Implementation Coach at Helps Education Fund

Alexandra was born and raised in Venezuela. She moved to the US at 17 to attend NC State University, where she graduated with a B.A in Psychology. During her time at NC State, she worked as an undergraduate research assistant for 2 different labs. In the Thriving Youth Research lab, she participated in a program focused on providing support to Middle and High School students who were struggling academically or behaviorally. In the Erpas Lab, she worked with Helps Education Fund as a HELPS tutor and coach, both in-person and remotely. She also assisted in the translation of materials to the Spanish language. Alexandra was also involved in different student organizations, such as College Mentors for Kids, where she participated in activities that inspired children and enhanced their learning experience.

After graduating, she worked one-on-one at a Spanish-immersion preschool and provided behavioral support. During her time at the preschool, she learned a lot of teaching techniques used by the Montessori method. At the same time, she became a nanny for 2 elementary-aged children. All of these experiences helped her realize how passionate she is about working with children and made her interested in looking for other ways to have a greater impact in their lives. She is now thrilled to join the Helps Education Fund team as a Project Manager and Implementation Coach.

Alexandra lives in Raleigh with her long-term partner. In her free time, she enjoys trying new places to eat, traveling, learning about different cultures, going to concerts and practicing her guitar playing skills.
