Flora joined Hempsons in October 2022, having previously been the deputy trust solicitor at a specialist NHS trust in London.

Flora has considerable experience in advising on complex healthcare issues, including those involving consent and capacity. She has conducted numerous cases in the High Court concerning applications relating to serious medical treatment, including the provision of experimental treatment to a child, and the withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment. Flora has also acted for clients in the Court of Protection, frequently involving Deprivation of Liberty applications. She is experienced in dealing with inquests and general advisory queries, including liaising directly with a broad range of healthcare professionals. Flora is particularly interested in healthcare advisory work relating to children.

Flora is a qualified solicitor-advocate, having obtained her civil higher rights in 2021. She has previously represented clients at hearings in the Court of Protection, and at inquests in the Coroner’s Court.

Flora has a special interest in the intersection of medical law and ethics, which she studied as part of her undergraduate degree in Law at Lincoln College, Oxford. She is a member of the Great Ormond Street Hospital Clinical Ethics Committee and the author of a chapter on consent and capacity for a forthcoming bioethics textbook.
