Derek Richardson, MD, MBA, MS has a diverse and extensive work experience in the healthcare industry. Derek currently holds the position of Medical Director at Henry Meds, starting in 2024. Prior to this, they worked at Galileo as the Director of Clinical Informatics, where they were responsible for improving healthcare quality and affordability. Derek also served as a Primary Care Physician, delivering care to rural underserved patients with complex needs. In addition, Derek was the Regional Medical Director for the North Carolina market, overseeing a team and leading the delivery of primary care services.

Before joining Galileo, Derek worked at Oak Street Health as a Physician, specializing in providing family care services to elderly high-risk patients. During their time there, they played a crucial role in making the clinic the fastest-growing in the company.

Derek also has experience as a Physician at Wake Forest Baptist Health, where they provided inpatient care as a hospitalist physician and taught PA students. Derek was involved in a quality improvement project centered around inpatient mortality.

Their career began with the United States Air Force Academy, where they served as a full-spectrum family physician and commanded a care group. Derek also had leadership responsibilities as the Leader of the Air Force Academy's base incident response team.

Derek then attended the Harvard Extension School in 2003-2004 to study Pre-Medicine/Pre-Medical Studies. In 2005-2009, Derek earned their Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from Tufts University School of Medicine.
