Abigail Horne's work experience begins in 2015 when they worked as a Recreation Assistant at GLL. In this role, they communicated with customers and their team to efficiently handle emergencies.
In 2018, they started working at the University of York as a Laboratory Technician. Abigail produced recombinant Leishmania proteins for enzymatic functional assays, performed experiments using various scientific techniques, and assisted with laboratory maintenance. Additionally, they served as a Student Ambassador, giving campus tours and promoting the university to visiting students and parents. Abigail also worked as a Digital Accessibility Intern, where they designed more accessible module sites on the university's VLE and worked with academics to improve the accessibility of their teaching resources. Abigail even pitched innovative ideas in meetings with department staff. Furthermore, Abigail served as an E-mentor, providing online mentoring to under-represented sixth-form students, helping them with their university applications.
In 2019, they had a brief laboratory work experience at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, where they assisted researchers with various laboratory tasks and observed techniques like electron microscopy.
Currently, Abigail is a Scientist - Protein Engineering at Sosei Heptares, starting in 2023.
