Jana Broecker is a Senior Scientist - Protein Biochemist at Sosei Heptares since September 2017. Prior to this role, they were a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Toronto from September 2013 to August 2017, conducting research in Structural Biology. During their time there, they wrote successful grant proposals and initiated projects that resulted in breakthroughs in membrane-protein structure determination and crystallography. Jana also supervised and mentored students. From 2011 to 2013, Jana worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Molecular Biophysics at the University of Kaiserslautern, leading complex biophysical projects and contributing biophysical expertise to collaborators. Jana supervised and mentored students in this role as well. Jana started their research career as a PhD candidate at FMP Berlin in 2007, where they later moved to the University of Kaiserslautern with their supervisor. Jana'sPhD work focused on studying membrane-protein stability and protein-ligand interactions, earning their awards and publications.
Jana Broecker began their education in 2002 at Technische Universität Berlin, where they pursued a degree in General Biotechnology. Jana completed their studies in 2006 and obtained a German Diplom (Dipl.-Ing.; Engineer) in Biotechnology. In the following years, Jana furthered their education and acquired a PhD (Dr. rer. nat.; summa cum laude) in Molecular Biophysics (Dept. of Biology) from RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau. During their academic journey, they also attended FernUniversität in Hagen from 2008 to 2009, where they received a degree as a Patent Engineer with a focus on Industrial Property Rights.
