Francois Wessels

Francois Wessels has extensive work experience in finance and operations. Francois began their career as an Accounting Trainee at Baker Tilly Greenwoods Chartered Accountants from 2009 to 2011, where they were responsible for planning, managing, reviewing, and finalizing audit engagements. Francois then joined Baker Tilly (Netherlands) as a Junior Manager from January 2012 to April 2012, where they were selected to go on secondment. Following this, Francois worked at Swartland Windows & Doors as a Group Financial Manager from June 2012 to February 2015, where they provided monthly management reports, KPI analysis, and Du Pont analysis. Since 2015, they have been with Herotel, initially as the Chief Operations Officer from March 2015 to November 2015, and then as the Chief Financial Officer with no specified end date.

Francois Wessels completed their Bachelor of Accounting with Honours degree at Stellenbosch University from 2005 to 2008. During this time, their field of study included Accounting, Auditing, Taxation, and Management Accounting. After graduating, they obtained their Chartered Accountant qualification (CA(SA)) from SAICA in December 2011.

In terms of additional certifications, Francois completed the JSE Sponsor Development Programme in June 2019 and passed Part I of the Qualification Examination (Board I) in Financial Accounting, Auditing, Taxation, and Management Accounting in 2009. Francois also passed the Public Practice Examination (Board II) in Auditing in 2010.

Prior to their university studies, Francois attended Charlie Hofmeyr High School from 2000 to 2004. Francois successfully completed their matric with distinction, focusing on Accounting, Business Economics, and Mathematics.
