At the corner of 155th and Frederick Douglass Boulevard in Harlem stands Holcombe Rucker Park, the legendary basketball court where immortals of the game like Wilt, Kareem and Kobe cemented their place in basketball lore. But what does any of this have to do with a 5’4” designer from Southern California? Well, when that designer is lifelong basketball enthusiast Jordan Tabije—who moved across the country to New York City to work at award-winning studios like Sterling Brands and Safari Sundays on major brands like Pepsi, Budweiser and Gatorade—those hallowed grounds have a way of making him a bit emotional. Because in the nine long years he spent in NYC designing identity, packaging, experiential and digital experiences for global clients, Jordan never took a moment to hop on the 3 uptown to see The Rucker for himself.
