Heleya de Barros

Heleya de Barros is an accomplished education and arts professional with extensive experience in youth development and performance. Currently serving as Adjunct Faculty at Highline College, Heleya teaches courses in Positive Youth Development Program Design and Implementation, Program Management, Public Speaking, and Presentation Skills. As a Performer/Researcher at Verbatim Performance Lab since 2018, Heleya employs verbatim performance techniques to address social biases. Other notable roles include Education Director for Bumbershoot, where Heleya launched a Workforce Development Program, and Director of Arts Education at Arts Corps, overseeing programs for over 2,500 K-12 youth. As a Co-Executive Director of Teaching Artists Guild, Heleya advocates for teaching artists nationally. Educational qualifications include a Master of Arts in Educational Theatre from New York University and a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from the University of Southern California.
